Juan pablo Duarte, the country's founding father, conceived the original design and obtained approval for it from Los Trinitarios on June 16, 1838.

The island of Dominican Republic is located in the Caribbean. It is the second largest Caribbean nation (after Cuba), with 48,442 km² and an estimated 10 million people.

Merengue y Bachata are both dances originating in the Dominican Republic.

La Vega Carnaval in the Independence Month. One of the most famouse carnavals in the country.

Plantanos are one of the main fruits used in Dominican styled cooking and is also a nickname many teenagers in this generation use to call Dominicans.
